Laser Hair Removal Treatment For Ingrown Hair

Laser Hair Removal  was first introduced around two decades ago. Dermatologists now accept it as a safe and efficient method to remove unwanted hair from small or large areas. The FDA also approves laser therapy.

Laser treatment is now preferred over all other methods of hair removal due to its effectiveness and speed. Laser treatment should only be performed by an experienced and skilled professional to achieve the best results and safety. Laser treatment is popular for removing unwanted body hair, such as those on the underarms, legs and pubic area.

What is laser therapy?

Laser hair removal therapy uses a focused beam of laser light energy to pass through the skin. It targets dark pigments, known as melanin. Laser light causes permanent damage to the hair follicles, preventing the growth of new hair. Laser doesn't heat or cause any damage to the skin around it.

Laser therapy is not permanent hair removal, as some people believe. It can keep unwanted bodies at bay for months or even years.

Comparative study with electrolysis

Another popular method for hair removal is electrolysis. It has been used for over a century. Below are the differences between electrolysis and laser therapy.

Method of treatment: Electrolysis is an invasive procedure in which a needle is used to penetrate the skin. Laser is non-invasive. This method uses only light energy to remove hair.

Time taken - Electrolysis takes longer than laser treatment because it only treats one hair follicle at time. Laser, on the other side, targets multiple follicles at once and takes less time. A small procedure may only need one session.

Re-treatment - Electrolysis permanently destroys hair follicles. This means that a previously treated follicle cannot be treated again. Laser treatment can cause hair growth to stop after a laser treatment.

-Effectiveness-Currently, the FDA allows electrolysis to be called "Permanent Hair Removing". It works on all hair colors, unlike laser. Studies have shown that electrolysis is more effective than laser hair removal, but it is slower and less painful.

Laser treatment results can be affected by certain parameters

Laser therapy is best for dark hair because it absorbs light better than dark objects. Combining light skin with dark hair is a great combination. However, new laser machines can now target dark black hair even if patients have dark skin. Laser treatment is not only about the experience and skill of the professional.

Laser hair removal requires a minimum of two sessions

Multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve the best results. The number of sessions required depends on many factors, including the area being treated, the skin color, coarseness, and gender. Laser treatment is not effective for the growth phase of hair. It may take several sessions to eliminate all the hair during phases of growth. It may take 5-7 sessions to get rid of all hair in a given area. However, 12 sessions might be necessary.

Intervals between sessions

Current guidelines suggest that the interval between laser treatments may be spread out over 4-6 weeks for most areas. The interval between treatments is not set in stone and will vary depending on each patient's response. Six-week sessions may be necessary for stubborn areas like the chest, underarms and back. You should wait until the treated hairs are shed and sufficient hairs have returned to your area before you consider another treatment.
